We are thrilled to announce February’s installment of the Sleeping Bear Yarn Club: Trails of Leelanau. Dyed for us by the talented Cat & Penny of Cesium Yarn in Roanoke, Virginia.
Trails of Leelanau evokes the hush of a winter wood—where soft snow rests on oak and maple, and the earth beneath hints at the path you walked that morning. Rich as wet soil and dark as bark, it reminds us of the many trails we’ve walked through the trees. Sparks of ember red, like the memory of fallen leaves reappearing as the snow begins to lift.
This colorway shares its name with a card deck by our friends at Field Day, a Leelanau-based company inspiring curiosity, wonder, and offline adventure. Born from a desire to replace screen time with real trails, their hand-designed guides invite you to explore hidden corners of Michigan’s wild beauty—no app required. Whether you’re a local or a seasonal wanderer, their work reminds us to slow down, look around, and reconnect with the land under our feet.
