We each look for the best way that fits us to count our rows and rounds. And it’s an ongoing trail & error to figure this out – did I click the counter for that last row? I didn’t make a hash-mark, or did I . . . ? Where did that Post-it go! We gave up hoping we don’t forget and just tediously recount all our rows repeatedly at nauseam. All of these options dig into our stitching time. Now a row counter as a stitch marker we will always move, that seems to work. It’s another beautiful notion for your worthy handmade items and it’s actually quite fun!

We’ve designed a chain row counter with the help from our favorite local jeweler Liz Saile. Each row counter is made with our signature pieces – the brass hex stitch markers adorned with precious gemstones. The row counter includes 10 brass stitch markers, shell numbered beads 0-9, a removable indicator gemstone with additional stones between each numbered brass hex stitch marker for easier number visibility. The offerings of gemstones will change overtime due to what is available but we will always have a few color options.

How to use:

You will start at ‘1’ when you place your beginning of row marker. When you come back to the row counter you will slip your needle into the ‘2’ or the next brass stitch marker down the chain. You will continue this all the way down the chain. As you slip to the ‘0’ brass stitch marker, place the removable indicator stone to the ‘1’ brass stitch marker. This will indicate the which ‘ten’ you are working on. Just like moving down the chain for each round or row, you will move the indicator stone down the chain each time you get to the ‘0’ brass stitch marker.
