Bao Bao Shawl KAL

Bao Bao (เบา เบา) is a Thai expression meaning gentle, soft, and light—and that feeling lives in every stitch of this shawl. Worked top-down into a symmetrical triangle, Bao Bao flows effortlessly from your needles, guided by the addictive, rhythmic texture first introduced by Isabell Kraemer in her beloved Heimathafen design. It’s the kind of pattern that invites you to slow down, savor each row, and fall into the quiet joy of knitting.

Using the dip stitch stripe pattern “all over” creates this super cute retro look.

Starting with a garter tab cast on, stitches are increased every RS row at both edges and at the center of the shawl. Color changes are worked every 4 rows. The cute and easy dip stitch pattern could be worked with many colors for a playful result (and to help stash busting 😉 or with 3 colors (as shown) for a more sophisticated and sportive look.

After exploring 3- and 4-color versions, we couldn’t resist going further. Using our Tibetan Cloud mini skeins, we composed two luminous multicolor journeys—each one telling its own story through color.
