Mixed Emotions is the January 2025 installment of the Sleeping Bear Yarn Club.

Dyed  for us by the talented Jessica of Jadawoo Designs in Orting, Washington. ​Northern Michigan Winter itself has been feeling these mixed emotions too. The snow comes and in moments it’s warm and melting. Coming down in that ‘mix’ of snow and rain shoveling away piles of slop. We are now greeted with all fresh powder again. Mother Nature’s mixed emotions. Winter doesn’t know if it’s coming or going, warm or cold, gloomy or a ray of sunshine. It is all of them.

A special reason we chose this color for January was the real ‘mixed emotions’ that Jessica created this color for.

“This colorway was dyed to represent all of the mixed emotions I feel as my annual cancer free anniversary approaches and felt while I went through surgery to remove my kidney. Grey blue: ominous feeling of dread, Bright pink/red: pain and anguish, Green: Hope and the future, Blue: The flood of relief.”

January is our daughter’s 2nd year anniversary of her brain cancer diagnosis. I was drawn in with Jessica’s colorway but reading the description I knew it was meant to be our January color.
