Christmas Chevron Cowl Pattern

One of my most beloved gifts to knit–for both women and men–is a cozy cowl. Shorter than a scarf, more unisex than a shawl, a cowl is a gift you can give everyone on your list. This cowl is especially dear to my heart; not only is the pattern a simple two-row repeat (perfect for car, meeting or bar knitting!), but in a blind test, you’d swear it was cashmere. Not sure what to knit your favorite brother-in-law? This cowl, knit in any one of the more neutral shades, would be an excellent wind barrier on his annual cross-country ski trip in February. Is your daughter in-between sizes? Pick any of the colors and not only will it work with her navy wool coat, it’ll be sure to fit. And can I tell you a secret? I know I’m not supposed to play favorites when it comes to yarn (for me, it’s the equivalent of picking a favorite child!) but the luscious Malabrigo Finito falls into my Top Five Yarns of All Time. In fact, with its gorgeous color palette and its uncanny likeness to cashmere (without the same price tag!), I consider Finito my desert island yarn–I might just be able to knit with this yarn alone for the rest of my days.
