In the words of the designer…

Squaring the circle with this extra-warm and extra pretty hat: Circle & Square! You start with an oval, working in the round and end with a square, all completely seamless and without any purl stitches. The unusual construction looks especially attractive in a self-striping or gradient yarn. The fabric is doubled in the spots that count (ears!), so it’s perfect for icy-cold winter days. Work it in a fingering-weight yarn or choose the yarn you like – the size is adaptable to the wearer’s head circumference.
