A Fresh Start Toque Pattern

When in doubt, knit a hat–or so the saying goes. The morning after (a string of shenanigans/a bout of insomnia/a romantic tryst/any combo of the three), a case of startitis, the urgent need for a gift [yesterday]–is there anything a new hat can’t fix?!? You simply can never have too many.

We are thrilled to introduce A Fresh Start Toque, a textured hat for wool lovers. This project binds together some of our favorite things: moody hues, a rustic, farm-fresh wool, simple, clever stitchwork and a sheep-to-skein collaboration between humans we deeply admire.

The gauge–a heavy DK/light worsted–will knit up quickly, and multiple stitch patterns create visual interest and engage your senses while you knit. You can wear the stitch patterns facing different directions and with three sizes to fit all genders, this hat is an instant classic. You will need size 6 needles, in both 16″ circular and double-pointed, to knit this hat.

Although The Woods collection of yarn is no longer available, find a suitable substitute using Brooklyn Tweed Shelter or Tones, Hudson & West Forge or Myak Baby Yak Medium.  You’ll need approximately 175 yards.
