We are thrilled to welcome a major fiber celebrity to Northern Michigan the weekend of April 22-23, 2023: Toni Lipsey, the crochet designer and instructor behind TL Yarn Crafts. Through her printable patterns and cheery video tutorials, she strives to make crochet accessible to makers of every skill level. Toni learned to crochet as a teen but honed her skills after graduating college and began TL Yarn Crafts as a finished-product business in 2013. At present, Toni spends her time nurturing her community of more than two hundred thousand makers across social media platforms, offering approachable crochet patterns and handmade business wisdom.

Toni’s newest venture, The Tunisian Crochet Handbook, is an especially radical addition to the creative world–we’ll have a trunk show here with samples and kits, handpainted yarns and a book-signing reception with treats and mocktails. Several lucky students will have the opportunity to take beginner-level Tunisian crochet classes throughout the weekend–and go home with a finished project. Toni will be joining us on Saturday morning for our Open Stitch and we’ll have lottery-style tickets for a Sunday brunch that includes a Q & A where she’ll talk a bit about her process as a designer, business owner and published author. There will be SO many opportunities to visit with Toni during the weekend–free AND ticketed events–and whatever your budget happens to be, we hope you join us in welcoming one of the greatest instructors in the creative industry today.
