We are so excited to have our friend Christine Chitnis as our guest of honor at our annual ‘Christmas in July’ party. The party is meant to celebrate summer, enjoy some sweet treats and to kick off our annual 12 Knits of Christmas.

“Nice cream?” Yup. Christine will be making a few recipes from her book “Icy Creamy Healthy Sweet,” a cookbook devoted to healthier versions of sweet treats we love. There are 75 fantastic recipes in the book, including fruit-forward popsicles, granitas, and non-dairy ‘ice creams’ (or ‘nice creams’) with bases made from coconut and cashew creams. Her focus is on natural sweeteners such as honey and dates and fruits that are in season.

She’ll also be giving a little talk about her work as a freelance writer, photographer, foodie, maker and mother. Her passion for a vibrant life is so apparent through her photographs and words, whether it’s from her essays in Edible Rhody, Country Living or Taproot magazine, her photos on Instagram or the recipes in her cookbook. A Michigan native, Christine lives full-time in Providence, Rhode Island but is lucky to sneak away to Michigan for the month of July. She’ll be signing books at the party as well. Can’t be there?
