Fall 2021 Issue

The fall issue highlights farmers, road trips, and community. Our nonprofit sponsor is Up North Pride, and one of their board members, Pam Amundsen, shares a story highlighting the great work of the organization in Northern Michigan. The herbal apothecary, Suu Kuu, is highlighted in an essay written by Adam Wolpa, whose wife, Erika Hanson, is the founder of both Suu Kuu and their farm and experiential-CSA, Käsi. In a piece about “local’s summer,” writer Kendall Rose takes our readers on a road trip along M-72, visiting Gallagher’s, Jacob’s Farm, and more.

Musician Sierra Cassidy, aka i.am.james, tells us about the creation of her duo project, Evie, with musician Emily Amber, a collaboration birthed in the Upper Peninsula during the pandemic. Farmer Adam Weinrich tells us how his family came to be farmers in Traverse City, celebrating the community they have found in the process. Writer Frank Vandevort takes us to Sand Lakes Quiet Area, a place that introduced him to backpacking decades ago, and a place that welcomes him home in his later years.

And musician Michael Waite tells the tale of how he and his wife Erica created a musical community on a mountaintop outside of Marquette during the pandemic, and the opportunities they have found along the way.

9.5″ x 6.5″ Handsomely bound, color throughout. Not super glossy, instead with textured paper. Feels more like a book than a magazine. Is clean in design with striking imagery and easy to read. Someone would be happy to have it on their coffee table.
